So, in case you haven’t guessed it yet, we love us some babies over here. Like, all the time.
Pregnancy and newborns are two of my most favorite things in life, so as you can imagine, baby products runs a close second, right up there with nurseries. Nurseries are the absolute best room in the house to design and I just have way too much fun doing them. It’s no secret, I’m a sucker for trendy nurseries, and this new Boho baby style has me straight dancing for joy. I love how this trend blends the perfect mix of pattern, color, and fun. A bohemian-inspired, yet whimsical nursery for a little lady was clearly happening for this editorial and I just love the way it turned out.

Now, let’s talk registries.
Registries alone are pretty daunting. Throw in the added stress level of babies, and well, they can just be down-right insane. There are just so many products on the market screaming at the newly expectant mom, but I’m here to tell you that you don’t really need all the things. I’m no expert, but I do have two kids of my own with more on the way, and I’ve honestly probably tried them all. There’s the good, the bad, and the down-right useless. But, relax! I’m here to share some really fantastic products that I believe in 100% and that I have tried first hand, for you, so you can spend less money and more time being the awesome mom that you are (or are going to be!). Disclaimer: That being said, everyone’s situation and needs are different. Not to mention, every baby is different. Take what you may from my suggestions, and always do your research. If I could go back to when I registered as a first-time mom, I would have done things so differently. There’s this amazing site Babyli.st that allows you to register for products from any store on the web and create a registry that is uniquely yours. No longer are the days when you had to pick between Babies ‘R Us or Buy Buy Baby. Can I get an hallelujah?! The struggle was real. Babyli.st helps to curate the perfect must-have dream list during one of the most anticipated times of your life. All of the items I’m about to share can be added with just one click.
The Best Pregnancy Pillow:
Made from eco-friendly materials that are soft, safe and sustainable, the bbhugme is my go-to pick for a full-body pillow that will continue to grow with you and your baby long after pregnancy. bbhugme’s innovative design and functionality will continue to provide for your needs even after your baby is born. It easily transitions into a nursing pillow that will hug and support you and your baby in all the right ways, making it easier for both of you to stay relaxed and focused during this special time. It is produced with eco-friendly bamboo and BPA free silicon pebbles. The cover can easily be removed and thrown in the wash over and over again. I had the snoogle during my last pregnancy and that thing was a pain to get clean. The bbhugme has a simple pillowcase design that makes it easy to pull off and throw in the wash over and over again.
The Perfect House Dress:
I’m pretty much in love with Dwell + Slumber‘s house dresses. They’re nursing and post-partum friendly, not to mention, roomy enough to accommodate your curves and cozy enough to nap in. The fabric is light and luxuriously soft, but thick enough to cover you well. It’s really like a second skin! They sell out super fast, so sign up for their emails so you can be the first to know when they restock.
The Perfect Hospital Bag (and what to put in it!):
The Cabin Carry-on from Storksak is a wheeled travel bag with a smart hanging organizer inside. The organizer allows you to pack, hang up, and use without unpacking. If that’s not the answer to your hospital-stay prayers! The grey tone is exactly what I would choose in a bag, a beautiful dark grey/putty kind of tone literally goes with everything, including my very beige and grey wardrobe. The interior is the perfect size to fit everything you need for when you give birth, including a baby book, car seat/nursing cover, a swaddle or two, and Mixie Bottles ( if you’re doing formula).
The Best Newborn Accessories:
Mixie Baby bottles are a must-have for those that choose to feed formula. They’re set up so the formula can be prepared ahead of time in the compartment, fill the bottle with water and go! Then when you’re ready to feed, pop the button on the bottom of the bottle to release the formula and mixer. Shake the bottle with what your mama gave you and then voilà. They’re genius! Mixie also has pacifiers to make your life a little bit easier.
Now, let’s talk slings.
The mother of all baby-wearing gods is Wild Bird. If you’re not familiar with their slings yet, you should stop what you’re doing and get on it. Their linen slings are a cult favorite and for good reason. The colors, fabrics, and rings are all to die for. They also do an amazing job at educating their consumers on how to properly wear their babies, so you won’t find yourself in a sleep-deprived state surfing Youtube on how to use your new Wild Bird. Baby-wearing, in general, is a must. For one, it promotes kangaroo care which is essential to newborns in their fourth trimester. It also, frees up your hands to get sh/t done when all your little one wants to do is cuddle. All around, you can’t beat either of these things, so it’s definitely a must-have.
Another amazing product for new mamas / babes is milestone cards. Blossom + Pear have some of the most gorgeous ones I have ever seen and they’re so pretty that you won’t have any issues forgetting to take those monthly photos the first year!
The Best au Naturel Skincare for Mom & Baby:
Babo Botanicals has been one of my favorite for years, but when I found out they had a baby line, too, it totally won me over. Made for the most sensitive of skin, their all natural approach to skin care is committed to urban farming which educates children on gardening and nutrition. Babo believes that every child should have first hand experience to the cycle of plant life – and this spiritual and scientific learning effects academia and self-nourishment and their own family values. They also screen every ingredient for safety, keeping those especially vulnerable—like pregnant women and babies—in the forefront of their mind. A product that feels good, does good, and IS good? There’s not even a question!
The Best Newborn Items for the First Night Home:
So, you may have heard of the fourth trimester. Basically, it’s the idea that the first 3 months of life are just an extension of life in the womb for baby. In order to get through this with all of your faculties still intact, you must recreate it the womb environment for your newborn. The first steps to doing this is 1) get yourself a good swaddle and 2) invest in a really good sound machine. Trust me, it will save your sanity (for the most part, because again, every baby is different). The Ergopouch is an award-winning sleep swaddle + bags that are made from breathable skin-friendly natural fibers. The Grey Fern print is SO cute and my favorite. These swaddles win awards for a reason, so do yourself a favor and invest in a few. They will at least get you a few more hours of sleep – well worth the investment if you ask me!
The Hatch Baby Rest is probably one of the best sound machines currently on the market. Not only is it your answer to white noise, but it also has a color changing night light and an OK-to-wake feature that grows with your baby as they become a toddler. Now wait for it… it’s also designed to control and program conveniently from your phone through one simple app (and bluetooth). What does this mean for you? It means when your baby is finally sleeping in their own room, that you worked so hard on, you won’t need to sneak in all stealth style to adjust the light or volume. Finally someone understands the sleep struggles for parents! We still use the Rest for our boys and it’s been a dream.
